Corner Boards

Are there corner boards somewhere in the ArchiCad libraries? If so, where and how do I add them. Frieze boards too?

Might I suggest using small walls for this? Or beams for friezes?

For articulated walls - say, with frieze boards and other horizontal trim - you should investigate integrating the trims in a complex profile where simply drawing a wall produces everything at once. Study how to assign different materials with the complex profile.

For corner boards, you can create a "L" shaped form with the Profile Manager, and assign it to the Column Tool.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.

Thanks guys. I will try out all these ideas and see which works best for me.

On the profile manager thing.....I've only been working with ArchiCAD a couple weeks. I am extremely new to it and used to PowerCADD which I've used for 15 years. I'm finding ArchiCAD's wonderful versatility a bit overwhelming to take in all at once. Any tips you can give me to get me started on working with the profile manager and complex profiles would be greatly appreciated.

When a user has a general question unrelated to an Archicad functional problem, the method is to :

-search the forum for the relevant term looking for previous posts
-search the index of the reference guide

You will really enjoy the complex profile used as a curved wall since this is how all that swoopy stuff gets made.

I'll be sure to do that from now on.

Well, most of what I skimmed above I would not do, as brilliant as they are. You might not need all the advantages that can be gained by this way, but they are there very easily.

Make a designated composite 5/4" wide, named corner boards. This can be tagged to a property object to extract quantities. It is very easy to have available as a Favorite, easily placed, mirrored (for other corners).. adjustable in elevation to fit rake moulding via info box ... etc.

It's very simple and works great.

A small wall, that is. Didn't I suggest that
To name it a composite (even though it isn't) is a very smart way to make it separately quantifialbe. Thanks, Rick!

I did say "most". Since you are on the same track, then that takes you (and I) out of the "brilliant" catigory
