Create a aerial floor view

Hello,

I'm a architecture student and I'm working on a project with two plants, in three floors.

1. Ground floor
2. First floor
3. Roof

All roof are plan.

I want to create a view with the roof view, including environment. But I am only able to create a view of the first floor or the third one. What I want is to see all roofs, and the environment.

All environment is placed in ground floor.

How can I do that?

You can select your Roofs (rooves?), open settings (press CTRL+T), and in the 'Floor Plan and Section' tab under "Floor Plan Display" set to show on all stories and the roof's will show up when viewing a different story.

1) Go to your roof story, alt-click on the roof, now use >Edit > Select all roofs.
2) Copy all roofs onto new layer, lets say "Roof 4 Site"
3) With New roofs selected, open the roof selection settings, Floor Plan Selections,
. floor plan display and change the floor plan display to all stories.
4) Still in roof selection settings, scroll down and check the cover fills box.
5) Create new layer combo for this special view.
6) That will create a view of the plan that should be close to what you
. want. You can tweak it using these or similar settings.
7) For a presentation instead of normal plan view, use a 3d window parallel
. view and select an orthogonal plan view. This allows you to see
. materials in color and add shadows. EDIT: oops~AC13 = no shadows, sorry.

PS The reason you want to work on a copy of the roofs is because after
you make the cover fills visible, the drafted plan view is "messy".
The normal roof will visible on your "normal" layer combo, and the opaque
roof visible only with the special combo.

Another (maybe better) solution:

This one involves two ideas, the Model View (MV) options and controlling the roof "Show on Stories" visibility through the Custom Settings.

The Custom "Show on Story" Roof Settings can show the fill on stories you want, AND independently show roof outline on another custom set of stories.

Create two custom MV's, one MV with cover fills visible and one MV with cover fills off.
That, in combination with the custom roof settings gives you the flexibility to create the views you need.

Remember when you hide fills, you hide all fills, not just the roof.

What's nice about this solution is you don't have two sets of roofs to remember to change when you edit.

I'd skin this cat by creating a view of just the roof and overlaying it as a drawing on top of your other plans in the layout.

Very simple solution to a common problem.

Yes, this a common problem i've been thinking about long how to solve it.

Was there any wish before about making site plan/view?

I would make a parralel top view in the 3D Window, and then make a 3D-Document with shadows

Well, seems the easiest solution has been to create two views:

1. View with 1st floor.
2. View with 3rd floor (only roof), with fill.

When placed two views in the same page, you get an aerial plan.

But, I'm a bit confused about shadows. How can I get them?

I don't want a render, I need a plan.
