open detail windows>select detail windows.
The names of details don't seem to be deletable even after I
clear all the details in the plan or section window.

Hope I've understood your question correctly.
Details are deleted by right clicking on the detail in the project map.

Go to Window menu
Scroll down to Detail Drawings
Open open Detail drawing
Then you see all the detail windows such as D01, D02, ...etc.
There is no way to clear this list even if I have deleted the particular details in the plan or section windows. I tried the manual and Help, and there is no instructions there.

Ben,
Sorry, missed the fact that you use an Apple.
Again I say, go to the project map and right-click (on a Mac, which key activates contextual menus - the Apple key?) on the detail you want to delete. Pick the delete option from the menu and when quizzed as to whether or not you are sure you want to delete, click "proceed" to delete the detail.

Ben,
On a Mac -
Go to NAVIGATOR and hit the detail with the mouse whilst holding down the CONTROL key. It will give you a small drop down menu on which DELETE appears.
Very counterintuitive - but it works!
Cheers, Cameron
