Enter Key in AC9

Is there some reason that the Enter key does not work as expected? It works as a return key and will not drop the text and place it on the drawing.

Thanks for the reply. I think this deserves a poll. If it doesn't bother everyone else I can learn to adapt, but it seems that this is not the standard action for the enter key.

Hm ...

If you are in Notepad, Word or anything else word processing, what does the Enter do?

I also have the old habit of ending the text input with Enter, from the primordial text tool times. It is a matter of teaching old pet new tricks. Clicking outside the text editor does the job, too.

What's interesting, is that this is the opposite behavior of most other software that I use. Yes, Djordje is right about enter behavior in a word processor. But, most software that allows text entry into a field - which is really what we are doing here - such as database, spreadsheet, web design programs - have control-enter as the 'line feed', and 'enter' as the completion key.

[Edit] I've thought about this some more since my original post, and actually think that I do prefer the way it is set up in 9. When editing multiline text, it behaves like a word processor, as Djordje says.

I dont understand what the problem is. Hitting enter will drop objects and terminate text entry. Guess i am missing what the issue is

I have always liked this feature. You hit enter on the typewriter bit and it returns. Use enter on the keypad and it finishes the text.

maybe it's because i'm using a laptop keyboard? i have a small enter key next to the space bar. it requires a modifier (CMD) to get it to operate as 'enter', (as opposed to a return of course).

i guess your enter key (next to the num pad?) works just fine?

Please note that this is an AC9 issue. I haven't upgraded my signature as I'm just now getting started converting projects to 9. The enter key (next to the number pad) just doesn't work as enter; only as return.
