Wish: Transparent objects (such as MEP items) in elevation (to see the wall beyond),
So, I turned on Transparency in Elevation Settings.
Then, I want windows/doors (all glass) to be opaque in elevation so as to not see into the house. Lastly, the windows should still be transparent in 3D.
My graphic override was unsuccessful (I overrode Glass - Clear (surface) to Color - White, but to no luck.)

Found a solution: turning a surface's Transmittance to 50 or below will show the surface as opaque in elevation, and transparent in 3D.
This results in:
Transparent objects in elevation (to show elements beyond)
Opaque glass in elevation (for drawing clarity)
Transparent glass in 3D (for BIMx, renderings, navigation while working)
Other steps: Elevation Transparency checked (as shown above),
and a Graphic override of all objects on my MEP layer.

what if you applied the override to the objects instead of the walls / windows while keeping the elevation model settings as is without overriding the transparency?
add a graphic override rule that calls up objects & have their material set to Invisible (or similar) & also override their outline pens to be gray & maybe override the linetype as per your second screenshot.

Transparency off prevents any 3d element from having transparency.
Transparency on allows an override to show transparency through any 3D element.
The issue is:
Overriding the Glass surface turns both the glass and window/door frame the same color, though I can't seem to get the frame black, and the glass white. It's minor, but important to delineate materials.

Graphic Overrides will affect the entire element, not just the part (surface) you want to change.
If you don't mind the windows always being non-transparent, just use a non-transparent material for the glass in the object settings.
