How to get stated with the right foot

Hi, I'm evaluating which bim software to choose for my office. And i decide to try archicad for a while, because i love its interface and graphisoft's policy.
But there is something that i don't understand in archicad's workflow.
1) How i can work in secure mode? for example if i draw columns how i can block them? I can only block its layer? or there are ways like gruop or families that i can lock or hiden.
2) can i constrain an objet to another? for ex. columns positions in the crossing of the grid
3) is there a way for constrain columns in a specific position in the wall and if i move or edit one the positions does not change?
4) what is the best blog and tutorial site for archicad?

Thank you!

Hello,

Welcome! I hope you can find what you need with Archicad.
Personally I've quit Revit for Archicad and I have no regrets!
So,
1) You can lock individual elements or layers. You can hide layers but not elements (but you can assign them to different phases where you won't see them).
2) You can't constrain elements in space like you can with Revit.
3) You can't constrain columns in a specific position or constrain elements to a given position. But you can do it through Grasshopper / Archicad connection.
4) You can find several tutorials in the youtube archicad channel.

You can link the height of walls, columns and stairs to the storey (floor) levels so they will adjust automatically as you change these levels.
However you can't associate any elements to another element - the only exception to this is the railing tool that can associate to most other elements and will automatically adjust as the element is altered.
