Does anyone know when we will be getting a Universal Mac version of AC 9 or 10??

It sounds like current AC under Mactel might launch but maybe not be too stable or feature complete.
So it'll be like Archicad 8 was! 🙂

One of the guys in our office ordered the intel iMac the day they were announced. Should be getting a report very soon.
Millard, any news on how AC9 runs on the iMacIntel?

Got the intel imac in the office this afternoon. We loaded up AC9 and tested it out. It seems to operate fine using the rosetta software. One of the areas that I had noticed that was always slow on an older machine was updating linked drawings in plotmaker. The updates using the intel seemed every bit as fast as my G5 dual tower. Looking forward to a native AC.

Thanks, Millard. Please report back if any problems arise. Are there any areas that are particularly slow?

Millard, did you find any specific performance issues? Rendering, for example? Lightworks?
I'm asking because I'd like to know if it's adviseable to buy a new Macintel before Archicad has gone Universal Binary, or if this is a sure way to run into problems. Please excuse my nagging!

Actually the iMac is one of my coworkers personal computers. He hasn't run it though all the archicad processes, but from what I saw, it seems as fast as my G5 tower. I'll ask him about the rendering speeds. I'm holding off upgrading the office machines until the Archicad upgrades are at least visible on the horizon.

Thanks, Millard!
Same here. But as you can see from my signature, I've been holdiing this off for a long time now, and it's getting overdue. So please keep us informed!

I think it is pretty safe to assume that Apple is going to release some faster machines in the near future. They rushed out to release a consumer (iMac) and a professional laptop (MacBook), since that is where a lot of initial sales would come from.

If you can afford to wait a few months, then you'll have faster hardware available and (probably) more info on ArchiCAD as well.
