Is AC 12 faster when using profiled walls

I've been using tons of profiled walls when working on restoration projects over eclectic buildings full of cornices, moulding and all kind of decoration, as I find it's the most accurate method to model such a building. As the project manage more and more profiled walls Archicad 11 becomes slower and slower, not over the 3d window, but when regenerating, changing active floor, showing ghost plans or calculating sections and elevations.

My question is ¿has Graphisoft made something to improve profile modeling on ArchiCAD 12 and make it work as fast as any other tools? Have any betatester make such a benchmark? I can send a pla to test it if someone is willing to do it.....

It may depend some on your hardware.

If you have a processor with dual or quad cores, or multiprocessors, 12 will be faster than 11 for almost everything.

ArchiCAD 25 7000 USA - Windows 10 Pro 64x - Dell 7720 64 GB 2400MHz ECC - Xeon E3 1535M v6 4.20GHz - (2) 1TB M.2 PCIe Class 50 SSD's - 17.3" UHD IPS (3840x2160) - Nvidia Quadro P5000 16GB GDDR5 - Maxwell Studio/Render 5.2.1.49- Multilight 2 - Adobe Acrobat Pro - ArchiCAD 6 -25

Q6600, 4 gb DDR2 800 mhz, Geforce 8600 GT.

The question is if they found some optimization to apply to profile system. It just become unusuable when you begin to add openings into profiled walls. If they solve it via brute force, It isn't a wise solution to me, IMHO

This is the complete structural model of the new wing of a hospital. All the steel and concrete is modeled, with fireproofing on the steel (triple the polygons). The steel is all done with complex profiles with the exception of the brace frames and a few bits of miscellaneous steel.

The full model is unmanageable in 11 (have to use marquee) it is fast (though not quite fluid) in 12. The difference is dramatic. It might be even better if I had more than 512MB on my video card.

I was told that the problem with the profile system was placing windows and doors on profiled walls. I think that all the operations need to draw fills, lines, contours and 3d is what makes the whole system to slow down.

Here you have my problem. A restoration of a XVII monastry, and a new building for a theatre. I have a fluid 3d movement with OpenGL in my 8600GT. But moving through floor plans is just a pain.

I assume you are working in AC11. It will be interesting to know the difference 12 makes. I am not using profiled walls much at the moment so haven't had the opportunity to test it.

Advanced calculations in plan usually seem to take a few versions to come up to speed. I don't know it if it is processor power, developer tweaking or (probably) a combination of the two.

I remember when parametric 2D was first introduced the draw time was so slow I had to hide them on large projects to get any work done (except when I needed to edit them of course - which was tedious).

More recently I recall that zone stamps were slowing things down noticeably. The tough part is that there is no option like the marquee to limit the work area.
