Hi Folks,

For those of you who already use AC11 in a productive environment, where is the question...

Is AC11 stable enought to upgrade from AC10?

Am I the only one that loses the "Auto Text"/ Reference for the Detail Markers during the file conversion?

Extra information:

1) Using the AC10 standard markers
2) After opening the file in 11, unload the AC10 library and load the AC11 with the AC10 subset.
3) Reference Info disappears
4) If I don't load the AC11 library then the file becomes extremely slow.

I have kept my 10 libraries for that very reason and have not loaded the 11 library. I don't seem to see a slow down by not loading the 11 library. Not just details, but section and elevation references as well.

Can you give it a try to see what happens? Just place a detail marker in plan and layout in AC10 and open in 11 and change the library. So I know I am not crazy on this.

I tried to indicate in my first post that I see the same behavior. I have projects from 10 that I have converted to 11, but kept the 10 library loaded and not loaded the 11 library. If I just load the 11 library I loose my references as you have indicated. I have not seen slow downs that you and others have referenced while using the program in this manner. This may vary on what marker you have used in the 10 projects, but I have not tested this

One other note to any of you grid tool users. I tested an early release of the grid tool and it was un-useable. The one in 10 was difficult and buggy, but I could struggle by. Currently the grid tool goody appears to be in development and is not available for download. This may come into play for those considering converting projects from 10 to 11. Hopefully we will see a new and improved add-on when this is ready.

I hope the "Coming Soon" means really soon, because I cannot use AC11 on my current projects w/o the grid tool.

Started small new project in AC11 on G5 duo.

Problem with speed so far is that I placed one object tree (tree deciduous 10 11) on plan and now it may, or may not, generate 3D image. If 3D image does generate, it takes about 4 minutes with the single tree, take out the tree and its ok. OR, it just hangs up during the processing. Used same tree in AC10 and no problem. Probably a general speed problem and not just an issue with trees.

Just a guess: I assume you are using OpenGL (if not, do - that is the problem). If you are using OpenGL and see a slow-down, then there could be some issue with your graphics card's capabilities now that AC 11 permits transparency in the OpenGL window and the tree foliage uses masking to make the background transparent.

Do you know if the "early version" grid tool for AC11 was at least able to properly bring in grid elements from AC10 file? If this is so, I would be able to continue my AC10 project because I'm not adding any more grids.
