JPG image applied to a Fasuma door displays improperly

Hello:

The JPG is 400 pixels wide by 800. The door is 90 cm wide by 180.
AC texture is set as follows:
Width = 90, Height = 180
Sample frequency is 1 x 1
However, the image is displayed 4 x 4 although only part of each image is shown.

How do I display a 1 x 1 image scaled to the door size?

Thanks: Douglas Wagner

Try Edit menu and Align texture this should bring the picture back.

Hello:
Thanks for your response.

Setting origin and direction were some of the first actions I tried. Neither makes any difference.

In fact AC protests with a chirp if I attempt to set the origin by clicking either on the selected object or one of its 3D selection handles. That tells me something isn't right.

I note AC Help doesn't specify which "construction elements" are included in the list of those governed by the 3D Align command. Is a door considered a "construction element"?

Anyone else have a suggestion? Would Graphisoft care to comment?

To recap: the graphic shows as 4 x 4 and offset from the object's center. The preference is set to 1 x 1.

Further to my recent post:

I tried both "set origin" and "set direction" again but his time in isometric view. This time AC doesn't protest and appears to process the command. (Previously I was in a "side" view).

Nevertheless, there is no change. The graphic is still displayed 4 x 4.

i don't think you can set texture origins in objects without coding it into the gdl

the simplest solution would be to apply a zero thickness wall on the face of the door (or very slightly offset) and apply the texture to that. then you can set the texture's origin with the align command

or use the archicad 'picture' object in the same way (this should align the image automatically)

Hello:
Thanks for your quick response.

In fact the door is my own GDL object. I've defined a material parameter "fasumaPaper" and set this to the material property which, in turn, is set to a JPG image (1 x 1). This arrangement works because the image appears on both sides of the door in a rendered view.

The problem is the way the image is displayed. I've set the material to display a 1 x 1 image. AC however displays it as a 4 x 4 image. See the graphic I mailed along with the original posting.

douglas

materials always tile to the extents of an object

the 1x1, 4x4 etc relates solely to the preview of the material in the materials settings dialogue

if you know some gdl maybe its possible to set the material mapping origin to a corner of the door leaf. i wouldn't have a clue

Hello Bill:
Good tip. I'll try that. At the moment the image is set merely by calling "material". I guess this isn't enough.

and a slightly more elegant workaround

give the door leaf a null material (i.e. a 100% transparent material)

draw a wall of the appropriate thickness as the door leaf. this way both faces can be aligned simultaneously, or given different materials. and the stiles can also be a different material to the faces

Hello Bill:

I've created a wall 90 x 180 cm, same as the Fasuma door. The image displays correctly. (The original image is 90 x 180 pixels. I don't know if this coincident sizing is significant).

We must be missing something when it comes to the door. I'll look into applying the image to the door in GDL. If I find a solution I'll post it.

In the mean time thanks for your advice and suggestions. As a last resort I can use your ghost door solution.

Have a good weekend: DW
