Label Adjustment

I'd like to draw a "UP" arrow for the stairs, but can't seem to find in the settings where to change the "UP" text to sit like my red example?

I wouldn't use a label for this as they are quite limited in how the text and the line interact.
i.e. the line can only start from the top, middle or bottom of the left or right side.
Just use a line and separate piece of text and position as required.

But if you have used a stair object then there may be parameters that you can adjust to show the "Up" text as you want.
This will all depend on the object you have used as every object can have completely different parameters.
If you didn't use a stair object then you will have to use just the text and line.

Thanks Barry.

In this particular case I chose to avoid the stair tool, only for the reason that I felt flustered when I opened it's setting but I understand what your saying, I should practice and play with it's settings, I'm sure everything I'm trying to do is all there

As Barry suggested, just use text and a line with an arrow head. Get the justification and origin point of the text right and it should be good at almost any scale. (I don't use the stair tool very often either).

Stuart what's your preferred tool to construct stairs, Morph or Slab? plus what do you use as your railings in situation like this?

One possibility is to use profiles:
The following image uses two complex profiles (>Design Menu) one of a single riser placed as a curved wall, another as three risers placed as straight wall. Search Forum for complex profiles.

I changed the material of the riser just to show it can be done within the profile tool.

To clean up up the linework on the plan view - play with the "wall end lines" settings, located a t the bottom of the Wall Settings, Floor and Section window, in the Outlines sub-window.

For your other question about hand rails - it really depends on what you are trying to achieve. Trussmaker is a popular option. Shown here are 4 canted walls forming tapered square pickets, with beam as handrail above.
