Composites are more reliable if you just need a simple fixed build up of structure. Complex profiles are great for more complex arrangements and where you need the same profile definition to be stretchy e.g. different layer thicknesses or even heights.

Also, depending on what you need, i also recommend checking out the trapezoid wall construction method, which allows you to modify the thickness of the wall core using the same composite.
