Can anyone from G_soft say anything assuring about AC11 working under the about-to-be-released Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard?

James,
I can confirm the same problem here. It even happens occasionally with ArchiCAD 11 as well.

My experience with AC 10 has been similar to those reported by others in this thread. Not much to add accept to say that odd application hiding behavior has been an issue with AC in versions prior to Leopard --at least for me.

Oh what fun for a year end! I too have had inordinate trouble getting the Artlantis export option to show, having migrated to Leopard: Having followed all the advice I could find on this forum, including changing the .bundle extension to .apx (thank you Pierre Judde), substituting Ignacio's add-ons (thank you Ignacio), and inserting a 'PkgInfo' file into the extension contents file (thank you Ralph Wessel) - all with their computer restarts ........... I still had no success.

The solution that has worked for me is to:

1. Save user profiles / templates / preferences / etc.
2. Remove 'offending' ArtlantisR-Studio_Out.bundle from Import-Export folder in 'Add-Ons' folder
3. Reinstall AC11 from the original CD (archive & install),
4. Install AC11-1114 update
5. Bingo! .........it works (for me, for now...)
6. Re-instate profiles / templates / preferences / etc

If it can help circumvent the above, the working file is attached for download...

Good luck & Happy New Year,
PB

PS: I have also posted this reply to the two other threads treating the same subject (sorry, don't know how to add the appropriate link here).

Anything new about this "broken glass" -problem? I'm not going to upgrade (again) to 10.5 until that's been solved - maybe in 10.6 or AC12 ?

I really hope that GS has taken some action on this.

Have you checked the Artlantis.com web site forums and downloads?
Do you have the updated 2006 AC 10 export add-on for your Mac platform (PPC or Intel) downloaded from there? And, the Leopard and 1.2.6 patch to Artlantis itself installed?

See the messages at the end of this thread:
http://www.artlantis.com/support/forum/read.php?fid=atl_import_us&mes=851

about renaming the add-on on Nov 14 and Dec 17.

I suggest that any further Artlantis questions be asked in that thread. 😉

Cheers,
Karl

Is there a final word on whether or not it's ok to upgrade to Leopard?

I've been looking to buy a new laptop (mine is 4 years old and kinda struggling), but didn't want to do so until GS had given it's blessing to Leopard.

In reading this thread, am I interpreting correctly that most of the compatibility issues are with the PPC - but that there are fewer issues with the intel processor?

My reseller said some time back that there was a compatibility issue with teamwork features, but as a sole proprietor I'm wondering if I can ignore this?

Anyway, just wondering if anyone knows

I only had a few problems on my old MacBook Pro in the beginning and none lately. I assume that the AC & OSX updates have helped, but there has been so little trouble that I haven't paid much attention.

GS contacted me about my experiences with this so they must be looking into it. I haven't heard any news yet.

It is not a strictly ArchiCAD problem though. I have seen it affect other programs as well. As I have said before it appears to be a heat dissipation problem with some older video cards. It only occurs after the computer has been in heavy use for a few hours and goes away once it cools down. I haven't seen a recurrence since the weather cooled off around here (back in early November I think). Unless you have one of the affected cards it is not an issue.

I'm using a one year old MacBookPro and I had this display problem with uptime about 10 min. (well, not lately since I've gone back to tiger).

I'm using a MacBook Pro with 10.5 that's just over a year old and I've never seen this problem at all. I'm not suggesting you did anything wrong, but it might be useful to know that this isn't a universal problem. Perhaps some of the graphics cards Apple shipped have a problem?
