Magic Wand and Mesh Not Working...

I have done meshes a thousand times on other versions. I'm using Archicad 16. I am having NO LUCK creating a contoured mesh.

Even a test case does not work:

1. I create a rectangle mesh.

2. I draw simple curved splines ontop of the mesh extending beyond the limits of the rectangle

3. I select the mesh tool, the mesh rectangle and select the magic wand then press the space bar and click on the spline.

4. at this point it should tell me that it's creating a ridge or whatever, but it doesn't. It just creates a closed polygon from the spline.

What am I doing wrong?

Figured it out. I was clicking outside of the rectangular mesh box instead of inside it. Guess I'm rusty. So I'm going to leave this here for any other rusty dummies that come across this. lol
