do you think that i can manage to model the shape like in the sketch below???
i really need to model this thing

Thanx in advance 😉

Just in case you need to model such structures more often:

Learn basic drafting and modelling with Autocad!

An ordinary AC user can grab the basics of Autocad in days!
If you use it just for modeling, and don't have to hatch, write text, dimension or plot with it, Autocad turns out to be a very handy and friendly tool!

Model took an hour and a half to make!

I think Autocad is the best AC add-on I have!

You can check for the "Mesh3D" object on the depository. Impressive piece of GDL,
despite some artefacts in rendering, easy to correct.
Indeed a GDL master piece...

But how can you correct those rendering artefacts?

Attached a modified part, because i am not good for explanations.
I have added a switch parameter for sides status: Smooth/Rough.
Plus a tiny change in UI, for a correct display on Mac platform.

GDL can not handle correctly an edge between two curved surfaces (photorealistic rendering).
A workaround exists, but it seems very difficult for such a complex object.

I have tried to email the author, without success. Pity.

I think graphisoft should hire him to improve the "Old" mesh tool...

Thank you Petri! (Ah! and of course you Olivier )

I should add : except for SEOs. Substract a portion of sphere from another one, result is correct.
Paradoxically, into a single object, you have to separate the curved surfaces by a tiny surface with a different status code.

Sorry, this turns into a GDL thread.

Thank you very much for the help
I apologize not for answering any of your threads but i was very busy on the competition.
I used the tentmaker and i think i managed to do it. Now it has to be approved by my boss. If it gets approved, i will post it here.

thanx again
