No DWG Creation

I have relatively simple 2d only file with 3 stories.
I'm able to create a dwg from stories
1 and 2. and they open fine in Autocad Lt
along with my civil engineers Autocad.
However, story 3 works fine in AC,
and I able to open story 3.dwg in AC I've made
of it from AC, however my Autocad Lt won't open it at
all and says "made with incompatible version"
and it shows up blank on civil's Autocad.
He asked me to make sure file was in "model space"
but don't believe we have that as needed option since
I thought we are always in model space??
And of course I've retried several times and translators
and believe I am using all the same settings with each
translator. Story 1 and 2 are always fine and story three is a
problem child.

Any guesses or suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks
Bier

You've probably got something on story 3 that doesn't translate well, probably some library object. Turn off half of the layers in turn and re-export until you find the culprit.

Thanks Thomas for the Great trouble shooting logic, (same as I use
in isolating electrical issues). Cut the problem in
successive halves until on top of it.
However, neither half of story 3 would open in Autocad Lt
as stories 1 and 2 do.
Both AC generated dwg halves opened in AC fine.
But thanks for AC trouble shooting concept trick.
I'm sure I'll use that again on something in AC.
Any other "long shot" ideas?

I am pretty sure that in the translator that you use to save the DWG there is an option to save visible layers only.
If this is off then turning off half the layers will have no effect as all layers will still be saved as DWG.
You might want to check in your translator settings.

Thanks ejrolon and Barry.
Did find place in translator to set layers that are off to not be included in dwg.
Did turn all fills off, no go, so deleted, (in test version) all fills,
Still no go.
Set my translator to model space as civil asked, no go.
Set translator to Autocad 2000, stopped getting “incompatible
version", and can see blank Autocad file with curser, but no go.
Retried half layers off then next half off, no go.
Converted one color text to black, as rest of text, no go.
Deleted all text, and fills, no go.
This story has no objects. All stories are 2d no modeling in this file.
Only objects are second floor restroom, but it translates fine.
And of course stories 1 and 2 continue to translate fine.
And the mystery goes on….
Thanks for all your ideas, one and all.

If you have illustrator, you may try to export it
as *.emf open it with Illustrator and export it as dwg...

Problem Solved if not "corrected".
After what seemed like a hundred different
combinations I tried, what finally did it was:
Copy-Pasted all lines/info into new story.
Believe that AC lost dwg "handle" on
original story.
Thanks for your suggestion also Jean-Luc.
