Does anyone know about a program/software to view the gdl libraries without loading all of them to Archicad?

So after that I only load that particular object that Im looking?

Hi David, Any chance that you would know why I should get a "master.gdl missing" error when I try to open directories other than the AC default library. Obviously the master.gdl file is missing since it's a different folder altogather but I have a lot of objects that I have downloaded from the internet in a different folder & do not wish to load them by default. Everytime I try to open these folders I get the error. Is there any work around to this?

Ashy:

This is a file that some object creators use to define and create specific fill types, line types, materials and other attributes that will be used by their objects. This ensures that these attributes are present, as they are usually not part of the project file attributes. You might be able to get by without loading this file, but the objects may start giving you error messages for missing fills, etc. You can do a search for this file on your hard drive (but there might be more than one, and the various ones might not be the same), then drag a copy of this file into your standard library folder so it is loaded by default. The downside of this is that these extra attributes may be added to your project attributes, whether you want them or not. Some of the third party add-ons for ArchiCAD also do this, and it can create a problem for maintaining office standards.

Thank You David,
I did figure out that thee are more than one master.gld files.
& I also learnt the increase in materials etc by loading objects
(The hard way I must add )
The thing is in GDL Explorer there doesn't seem to be a way to load the file. One can load a specific folder as a library but not a file I think. At least I couldn't find a way. and Thus I can use the Explorer to browse the AC library but not others. (typically lots of downloded furniture etc stashed in a folder tree) and since I'm not much of a GDL expert I can't really manage to 'write' a master.gdl file( I belive it's just code text) ;I guess I'm stuck with loading a whole bunch of object types in the library. but at least I can use the explorer to browse the existing AC library.

Thanks again
