Origin of symbol line type - can't get it right

Quote from AC 11 manual:
The bounding box of pasted graphics will be centered on the centerline of the Symbol line. If the Project Origin was located within the bounding box of the copied elements, it will be used for alignment.
This does not work on my computer. My *project* origin (not user origin) is well within the bounding box (though I'd rather have it along the edge), yet my symbol is always centered. I tried different combinations, none worked.

Any ideas?

It works fine for me in 12. I haven't tried it in 11.

A good rule of thumb when creating linetypes is to set the scale to 1:1 and use the project origin as the centre of your line. If you draw your line segments from left to right, and want the reference to be on the edge, then you need to align either the top most or bottom most part of the line segments with the project origin.
