PLN files referencing a common library of Drawings/details

Hello All,
I have a best-practice question regarding file and reference management:

Project: residential home - the plan file undergoes gradual modifications and as-built notation

I have a house design that has two floor plan options; one with 3 bedrooms, one with 2 (and a larger living space). The elevations, wall sections, details, etc are all the same for both houses. What method do you recommend to organize the files so that when time I make a slight modification to one of the shared details, I don't have to repeat it in both PLN files.

I suspect that there is a way to reference Layouts, and have a third file with just the details in it? Any thoughts or comments are greatly appreciated.

- cheers - Corey

Have you considered using Hot Linked Modules or using Xrefs ?
