The ever-clever James Murray posted this tip on his blog:

... a brilliant method to allow the use of polygon editing tools (pet palette) to change the shape of a slabular object (corrugated floor pan in his example).

This is also an excellent practical illustration of the use of the solid element 'intersect' operation, one that could be helpful to many.
