Make sure you have all layers turned on before you do a Find & Select.
But I don't think that is your problem here.
I'd be guessing that post object is part or a railing object so F&S won't find it.
Try just selecting the railings and view those in 3D to see if you get the same message.
You can also use a marquee to isolate areas to view in 3D.
If no error message try another area.
If there is an error then reduce the marquee and try again.
You can also narrow the search down by turning various layers on or off.
Sometimes it is just a process of elimination.

Thank you Barry! It turned out being one of the new railings in 21. The materials within the settings were missing so it was causing the error and slowing down any revisions in 3D.
