!Restored: Success = getting new customers

I saw some documents to compare between Revit and AC.
I study Revit from own website.
It is just copy from AC!!

I used to work with AC (and very satisfied, and like many friends from AC-forum).
As AC-user I hope, AC must be better than Revit for Architects.

I have not used Revit, but just seen from Website.
The web-site from Revit is so nice, that I must believe, Revit should be better than AC.

I like to know your opinions and also opinions from GS.

Thanks

What is interesting about the strategy of Autodesk, with it's roll out of Revit is that they are selling revit as a bundle with AutoCAD upgrades.

Who wouldn't upgrade their AutoCAD package and get Revit on the cheap. It is an easy of increasing Revit licenses by stealth....

How many practices that have upgraded with this method are actually use Revit for their real work???

Or the the Revit packages just sitting on the shelf, because they know they need to look at BIM but are to scared to tip their toe into the pool.

I think it is foolish for Autodesk to market Revit this way, has it is not pushing Revit or BIM by giving people the choice of the status quo (flat CAD).

My two cents..
Same Marketing Strategy followed by Autodesk here in India. Interesting thing is, if you buy any GIS/Land Development softwares like Autodesk Map, Civil 3D you get Revit for freeeeeee......

why do you think autocad is so popular till today?

maybe because it was an easy software to "distribute" : even my dog had a copy of autocad 10.

I have read somewhere that the sales of AC platformwise is roughly 2:1 in PCs favour. Over here the usual scenario is a company running some 2D CAD package (and actually 80% would be ACAD on PCs) upgrading to BIM solutions. So that gives you a rough idea of a platform mix on the market.

One more thing I have come across, which is quite interesting, a company using ACAD 200whateverthecurrentnumberis has decided for switching to BIM. They have been advised by their ACAD distributor that Revit is way to go (fair enough) telling them that Revit is 'almost' an extension to ACAD. I had to laugh when they found out that there is no file compatibility whatsoever or any migrating advantage (filewise) as for example with AC. This little naughty trick makes people thinking like ooh, we'd better to stick with something that will not change our way of work...

I agree with the PC being a majority but what I was pointing to was that the MAC section is a captive market.

As far as for OSX just wait to after the the coming VISTA flap, just rear the MS insiders forum.

you think archicad is going to be around much longer if we keep getting the kind of half-baked, added-on scissors-and-cellotape crap that graphisoft is currently charging more and more for? all this revit "drivel" might be what we're all discussing in a few years time. stick your head in the sand, you might not hear the 'whoosh' as it passes over your head . . .

Don't mean to revive this... short thread, but I was wondering if anybody out there knows of some true comparison between the two. Most of the "magazine" reviews that I've seen compare only the previous two versions. I don't suppose anybody has done any head-to-head comparisons of all their features?

I'd like something as unbiased as possible. If that won't work, the next best thing would be two equally biased comparisons/reviews...
