Ridge capping and valleys for a Colorbond sheet metal roof.

Has anyone modelled these elements and rendered them recently? I'm wondering the most efficient way to do it. I need them to render accurately and keep them separate from the roof so as to allow for different colour schemes.

Any tips would be appreciated.

There are 2 ways I do this:

Simple - cappings by copying the roof sheeting up by 30mm, set depth to 30mm, change surface to a copy of roofing surface without a texture and edit to required shapes of cappings, valleys is the inverse of this.

Detailed - create profiles of required flashings, cappings and gutters and use profiled beams to apply

Cadimage coverings work like a charm.

Thanks guys. I was familiar with the "copying the roof up 30mm method. But as I'm making high quality renders I may need to look into the Cadimage add-ons. Hey rogerdodge, do you have an example of a roof you've rendered with cinerender and the cad image coverings?

In your opinion, is the Cadimage add-o worth getting?

If you're doing residential work the 4D Roofing accessory is the duck's n*ts!
You can setup a whole roof up in seconds! Google 4D Library!
I've just quickly set up a few examples of the cover and ridges it does!

This is Cadimage roof coverings & the weather boards are Cadimage wall coverings, very good tool & easy to use, the roof looks really good with realistic valleys & rolled ridge flashings, the downpipes even have brackets.
Highly recommended!

Thanks Rogerdoge.

The cadimage covering tool looks quite good. I think that is the quality I'm looking for.

I appreciate your uploading those examples mate. Hopefully I can return the favour soon.
