SEO- a slab and mesh contour

Not applicable
i have a building that is partly within a hillside. i've recreated the hill with the mesh tool and now i need to 'carve' a chunk out of it. The hill is 20' tall and the building digging into to the hillside is 8' tall and floating 5' above ground level, so the highest point of the building is at 13')

i tried using the subtraction tool but doesn't seem to work. also, i can't just split the hill into two pieces and "sandwich" the building.... the hillside is 100'+ wide and the building is only 15' wide.

i just realized i'm unable to do ANY SEOs. after i hit 'execute' nothing happens. any suggestions?

"Subtraction with upwards extrusion", slab as operator, mesh as target. Make sure you de-select one before selecting the other.

When the poster couldn't make the SEO work, for whatever reason, I suggested making a hole in the mesh, then filling it in if needed - with a slab or another mesh.

It never occurred to me that he wasn't operating the SEO correctly.
