Soffits...

How do people tend to model drywall soffits? I have a wall in a room that has an area that is set back 4-6" which creates a soffit condition that I'd like to render properly in a building section. I've tried using the same wall type as a slab, but cannot get the elements to heal. Is there another technique that is more convenient?

Thanks in advance...

I use custom walls with wall profiles. w/ vertical and horizontal stretch on. As you can see I have the framing-structural sheathing, drywall, and crown all included so it looks good in rendering and also in sections. Change the wall to dashed lines in the floor plan.
