Streching wall height in 3D in AC10

Hi!

I´m trying to stretch the height of multiple walls in 3D in AC10 and it doesn´t work. One is fine, but several impossible. I used this technique a lot in AC9 and I´m puzzled why they should have removed such a feature. Am I missing something?

Regards, Andreas

Sorry I don't have a solution just thought I'd write so you didn't think you were alone.

This one is a real chore. I used to just grab as many elements as needed and stretch them to the correct height. Similarly can't believe that this feature would simply be dispensed with so am wondering whether I'm missing something.

Are you using the correct pet palette item ?
In this case it should be the vertical stretch icon.

Grab a single object you can do pretty much anything you want with it. Grab two or more it gives you the option to move a node, drag objects, lift them, rotate, expand, etc, but it doesn't offer the stretch icon

I see what you mean now.
I assumed this capability would would still be
but I guess not. This is unfortunate.

Thanks guys!

At least now I know it isn´t a local problem with my installation. To bad though with the omission of this function. I hope Graphisoft can fix it in an update. How do you go about wishing for such a thing?

I'm fairly new to this forum so haven't posted anything there yet but there is a construction wish list section. I've no idea if the moderators just moderate or if the discussions are actually picked up and adopted but it might be worth a try. Certainly if you fire up a petition i'll sign on the dotted line.

nothing much more to add either, except to say that it's frustrating the hell out of me to.

we shouldn't really have to 'wish' for it though . . . it's a functionality in AC9 that everyone was used to and has been broken in AC10. i do think that as many people as possible should report it as a bug through their local dealer/tech support people . . .

FWIW Graphsioft is aware of the bug. I guess it's in their hands now. Since it's a function that is missing from AC9, you'd hope they will get onto it sooner rather than later.

Personally, my productivity would increase the most if I had the full Edit command set enabled for 3D objects (not just 2D graphics) in S/E views: Stretch (several), Adjust, Split, Drag-a-Copy, Multiply...

Also, I think Copy/Paste in S/Es should copy the whole thing, not just 2D lines. This is a historical limitation. Now it should just be a useful extra that should be available through a "Paste Special" command (à la Microsoft Office)!

This is because my screen is 2D. In many situations, a 2D interface (plan or section view) is faster manageable than working in 3D, just because the third coordinate (depth from the screen plane) is (or can be) fixed. When working in the 3D window you always have to keep part of your attention on this - the computer might interprete your intentions the wrong way. This is useful many times, but sometimes it slows you down. I think this is what in effect killed Microstation Triforma - you had to work in 3D all the time. I didn't like that.
