1. It would be helpful if you could show an - albeit rough - WIP version of what you are trying to achieve. Forum members could then c&c this, which could help.
2. You should really check out the forums (especially 'Finished Work' and 'WIP') at cgarchitect ... there are lots of threads which develop rendering principles. Note: make sure you get to view 'all threads' not just ones that have been active in the last 7 (?) days
