I just wanted to share our latest tip on importing standard steel profiles for use with columns (and beams!) in ARCHICAD. Featuring another YouTube video tip, if you can't be bothered with all that reading!
#BIM6x gives you #justthetip !
Hope everyone finds out something they didn't know!

Cheers,
Link.

On the off-chance that you're Dutch and find one missing: http://www.staaltabellen.nl/ here are most of the available steel profiles on the market with dimensions etc
It's a pity that it is near impossible to create any assembly of collumns/beams with proper mitred joints. For frames I find myself going back to the object library and pray that one of the beams isn't both rotated along the axis and sloping

Theese profiles are usefull to some extent, but is there any addon or tool to create at least basic steel construction in ArchiCAD. I mean with bolts and welds and things? Something similar to reinforcement addon from Eptar, which is good for smaller projects.
I know Tekla is the king here, but what do some of you in Europe use? Any other BIM software (just please don't suggest Revit Construction
)?

Steel manufacturers we work with mostly used StruCAD in the past, which has been bought by Tekla and phased out in favour of Tekla Structures I think.
Revit seems popular with structural engineers here.
