Tangent to arc/circle

This post is a continuation to my previous one on tangents:
I start to draw a line, it touches a circle - and a tangent cursor appears.
I start to draw an arc, it touches a line - and NOTHING happens!?!
Don't you have a reverse gear in your car?

I wish i could draw a line and it would hold a tangent to a circle as I decided the direction with the next mouse click.
