The magic wand settings play me a joke...

I want to magic wand some terrain countour lines but I end up with toooo many nodes. I read the thread about this with the mesh tool but I just want my polylines/splines. I attach an image showing my settings for a polyline and a spline and the result. The 14,9 measure is 14,9 metres, just to show the nodes are much much closer even in the almost straight parts of the contour...

Try the "Deviation from Curves" setting. It works better on splines.
