WHEN IS GRID TOOL COMING???

Can anybody shed light on when the AC 11 grid tool will be available!!!

My team beta tested AC 11 and throughout the beta test the grid tool was available, albeit just as flawed as it was in 10. Then suddenly the tool was taken away from us when the final release came out. We were urged to used AC 11 on 'real' projects by graphisoft and so we did. We have real clients and we are working on a real $100m hotel and we need our grid tool back, asap.

*We have tried loading the RC1 grid tool but it doesn't get read by the final release.

Tell me about it!!! I've just started struggling with the same issue (checked today -- Goodies page hasn't been updated since May!) -- LJY.

This I feel is extremely unprofessional of Graphisoft.

I know as an underdog in the AEC software world, there are things that we can accept from Graphisoft that are a bit buggy and so forth, but on the other hand, Graphisoft should be more flexible and agile, in providing support / feedback on such basic things. If they found some bug w/ the grid tool, couldn't it have been addressed w/ maybe a job captain and couple of junior programmers few days & nights overtime work to fix it up? I mean this is what we do all the time in our small, underdog architectural office!

I too was part of the beta test and I too went looking, again, for the grid tool just yesterday, along with the SketchUp import add-on and MaxonForm for AC11. Graphisoft went 0 for 3. I am forced to agree that it is pretty bad form that these important pieces of the puzzle cannot be released simultaneously with ArchiCAD. The one year release cycle make this harder (for Graphisoft ) and at the same more important (for us). Unfortunately they are establishing a system where users are almost forced to wait until half way through a version's lifespan before they can be confident in deploying it on a critical project. Let's just hope they do not drop the ball completely like they have in the past...

Well said, Geoff.

I would say it even more strongly. It would be merely 'bad form' if these things were not ready, but there was at least a message with a time table from the head of ArchiCAD development and/or marketing.

Given a complete lack of communication from GS, I would choose words not appropriate for the forum.

yes. those would be my words too karl. it's downright unprofessional the way graphisoft dribble bits and pieces of software to their users.

i'm still waiting for the mac version of the AC10<>sketchup plug too. simply because i can't use the rubbish that is archicad 11.

at least the grid tool is now downloadable. haven't installed it, but it's there now . . . (for INT at least . . .)

It is there for the USA version now (7/4/2007) !!!
Great way to celebrate the independence day. Thank you Graphisoft!

I've played w/ it a little bit, but seems like a much improved and much more stable than the previous one for V10.

Did everybody get this email from Graphisoft:
Dear Valued Customer,

We wanted to let you know that the Grid Tool add-on has now been posted to the Goodies site for ArchiCAD 11. You can access this download page from the ArchiCAD Help menu.

We sincerely apologize for the delay in releasing this add-on which we realize is essential for many of you. In the process of improving the grid functionality, we encountered quality assurance issues that took longer to resolve than we anticipated. Even though this tool is essential for many of you, keep in mind our disclaimer on the Goodies page:
GOODIE TOOLS ARE PROVIDED TO YOU ‘AS IS’, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. BY DOWNLOADING YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT IN NO EVENT SHALL GRAPHISOFT AND/OR ITS RESPECTIVE SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INDIRECT OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OR ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER RESULTING FROM LOSS OF USE, DATA OR PROFITS, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, NEGLIGENCE OR OTHER TORTIOUS ACTION, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OR PERFORMANCE OF INFORMATION AVAILABLE FROM THE SERVICES THESE TOOLS PROVIDE.
Rest assured, that we are working deligently on the Google Connectivity add-on for all platforms which was announced two months ago on May 2nd, and which we had intended to include with the first release of the English and German versions of AC 11. We will let you know just as soon as it passes QA.
http://www.graphisoft.com/company/press_zone/ac11_google_earth.html

We have no information to share concerning MaxonForm for 11 at this point.

We truly value your business, and apologize for announcing product release dates that we could not meet. We will be providing several valuable, free add-ons later this year as a gift to all ArchiCAD 11 owners to keep your good will.

Sincerely,
Didn't receive this? Me neither.

Karl
