Hi, can anyone tell me how to remove/switch off the window/door diagonal opening lines, shown red in the 3D view

OVERRIDE MODEL VIEW OPTIONS will do the trick

Best practice is to set it globally
Document Menu -> Set Model View -> Model View Options
