Zones - Area Calc Question

One of our drafters recently had a zone that was apparently giving the wrong floor area. I have attached a snapshot of the zone settings. You can see that the Measured Gross Area is twice what the Measured Net Area is.

The first thing I noticed is that his ceiling height is 0". So we changed that to 9' and updated the zone, but it didn't change the Measured Gross Area because we aren't subtracting for roof slopes.

Then I check the zone preferences to see if there was some kind of addition or subtraction happening, but it all looked good.

Finally, I notice that he was using the Reference Line definition method. We changed it to Polygon, and the Measured Gross Area finally calculated correctly.

My question is this: The visible shape of the zone never changed and there is no way that there is a total of 1,281 square feet between the edge of the walls and their reference lines. Where is the extra 1,281 square feet coming from?

I doubt this is your situation but it's possible if the room is *very* narrow to have the net and gross calculations that far apart.
