License Delivery maintenance is expected to occur on Saturday, November 30, between 8 AM and 11 AM CET. This may cause a short 3-hours outage in which license-related tasks: license key upload, download, update, SSA validation, access to the license pool and Graphisoft ID authentication may not function properly. Check and make sure your Zone's RENOVATION STATUS matches your WALL's Reno status... There are instances where EXISTING zones cannot be placed in NEW construction...

Thank you!! That was it. The walls were all proposed but existing was still the default when I selected the zone tool. It worked when I created new, temp walls because they were also being created with existing as default. And when I got the weird error followed by zones incorporating the area of a couple walls, that was because those walls were (incorrectly) set to existing.

Now the zone stamp isn;t showing up, but I'm sure that will be solvable....

Thanks again, this made me nuts last night

UPDATE: visibility was just set to off by the model view I was using, all is good now
