License Delivery maintenance is expected to occur on Saturday, November 30, between 8 AM and 11 AM CET. This may cause a short 3-hours outage in which license-related tasks: license key upload, download, update, SSA validation, access to the license pool and Graphisoft ID authentication may not function properly. can I invert hologen recessed 17?

I need to have a very small light source that I can put into a light cove soffit
to simulate a rope light and have the light shine upwards to wash the ceiling above. A long time ago I remember using one of the available lights from a previous version of AC and I spread them out along the soffit at maybe 4" to 6" on center and it workded good enough.
The trick was finding a light source fixture that could be parametrically scalled down enough to fit in the very thin profile soffit and that could also be directed to face the light upward. I believe I found one that was a bit to big even after making it as small as I could and more than half of the fixture had to be inside the slab I used to create the light cove. It worked because it wasn't so thick that it stuck through the bottom of the soffit.

Is there a better light source object for this type of application now?

Seems like a no brainer that we should have one that simulates a rope light.

They even make them that have 5 to 10 watt halogen bulbs that can be
placed at virtually any spacing along a romex type of insulated conductor.

Tivoli makes a similar system and now there are all kinds of rope lighting
available even LED.

Could someone let me know if we have anything available for AC17 that can work?

Try This old trick HERE instead of using actual objects. Maybe supplement the rope light with a long tubular element that appears to glow (Emission in its material / surface settings) but does not actually illuminate its surroundings.

I take no credit for Dwight's solutions.

I need it to illuminate its surrounding surfaces. The actual source of the light is hidden.

The point is to use a number of "light cone" lamps from the General Light Sources library for the actual illumination rather than the recessed light object which comes with a body and the associated polygons etc. Use as many of these as necessary. Then use a glowing prop to look like your rope light.

Thank you,
I was able to create the rendering below and I think it's good enough. However, I'm not crazy about the light circles on the counter tops and don't really have the time to play with all the settings, too many settings! and then the wait to generate each photo view to see what changed.
What are or is a glowing prop? the idea is not to actually see the rope light
only the reflected light.

I guess I am just wondering why we dont have a light object that is, say
3/4" cube or small halogen bulb with a tiny base that stands only 3/4" tall and no more than 1/2" round that can be spread out along a path at any spacing to simulate the different types of strip lighting available.
It should also be able to be rotated to any angle desired, bulb standing up, bulb facing down, out sideways, etc.
