If it is a simple circular or rectangular hole (or holes) you are after just select the beam, click on it and use the pet pallet option (top right) to add holes.

Hi.

Assign a complex profile to the beam, and make the holes like Stuart said.

Best regards.

You can also use the object Web Beam Curved 18. It can be made to be straight as well as curved and has many options for the holes.

where do you straighten out (make it flat) this curved beam?
I looked thru all the parameters...no where does it allow you to make it straight (flat as in NOT curved upward).
