project with multiple buildings on many levels (ArchiCAD16)

I need to create a site model with about 10 buildings in it. Buildings have different levels and story heights so ideally would be to model them separately and combine them in one big mastermodel at the end (similar to AutoCAD x-ref). Any idea how to do it and keep all editable (saving as objects is not the solution I am looking for)?

I'm having this problem today. I'd love to be informed if anyone finds a solution! (other then placing each story individually that is.) Thanks everyone! Smile

There is another post on this same topic (they didn't find a solution yet either, but just for cross reference: http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=209108).

This issue has been discussed extensively. There are three well known methods:

1. Standardize story heights across all files. Great if you can do it. Only works on a few projects.

2. Publish Modules and link them floor by floor. This is a bit tedious to set up but, once done, is robust and updates are easy and semi-automatic. This does limit/complicate SEOs between stories.

3. Save buildings as library parts. The old school approach. Handy for exterior campus models and works for site plans that use roof plans for the buildings. Live updates require an explicit save as (no publish option) to overwrite the prior version and a library reload on the receiving end.

The fourth option that we are all longing for requires some help from GS. Namely the ability to link PLN files while preserving the source file's floor to floor heights. It seems this wouldn't be terribly hard to implement since it is just automating what we do manually when we reassemble the modules story by story.

I have seen many tutorials and many discussions about split levels in archicad, but i have a very specific situation that i could not find solution for.
I have 3 buildings placed on a sloped terrain. The buildings are made in separate file, but garage and basement levels are made in this file, shown in the picture attached. So, 1. basement plan of one building is connected with 2. basement plan of second building. On the slope there is a parking. So my question is, how these floor plans can be visible together? Where do i set section plane, or what are my visibility settings because walls and floor does not display properly?
Please let me know if i could make my question more clear, i would be very appreciated by your replies!

under document > floor plan cut plane is where you change the height of the cut plane.

I would make 3 views for each building showing the right cut plane related to that building, then place 3 view on a layout.

Hope this helps.
