reason why switch to Revit, AutoCAD, VW, Allplan.....

AC is for me the best tool to plan my projects.
In the past time our teachers said: Use thick pencil, than you can think more freely.
Nowadays our pencil is CAD-Tool.
My best pencil is AC, because I can experiment enough my trial and error with this pencil, without making modell.
What is your best pencil? Why will you choose Revit? or VW?
Probably you have different philosophy.
Or is it not important to choose carefully our tool planing our architecture?
