quick newbie question

i am having trouble with guidelines. when i did the tutorials for the program i would draw a wall and a guidelines for the wall would come up automatically based on the actual wall. now however, the guidelines are based on the origin of the drawing. in other words, if i want to draw a orthogonal wall i have to hold down the shift key because the guideline always points to the origin(0,0,0) of the drawing. i am sure this is a simple setting i have to turn off, but for the life of me i can't find it. can anyone tell me where this is located?

i just figured out that this only happens when i bring in a dwg drawing as a backround. i still don't know what to do but when i open up a brand new drawing this doesn't happen.

lekcaj,

If I am understanding you correctly you might want to check out the absolute / relative settings in the coordinate pallete. See also "Absolute and Relative Coordinates" in the reference guide.
