several roof concepts - one file or multiple files?

Modeling a residence with a roof at mostly one bearing height. I'd like to show the client several roof options. In 2D I would draw this in one file with multiple roof layers. I thought about doing something similar in archicad with multiple roof layers and view settings, but it occurs to me once I start trimming (or not trimming) gable ends, etc. I would be better off with multiple files. Any tips and tricks?

Try using the renovation Filters, and make filters for each option.
Hope that helps.

Stop your walls at a common height. Set up layers (and layer combinations) for each roof option. Have additional walls for the gables that start at the top of the common walls and are on the same layer as the roof to which they are trimmed. I would have these gable walls on the storey above the main walls.
