trouble editing a fill

I'm having some trouble editing a fill. I follow the directions in ArchiCAD Help (copied below) but the option to copy disappears when I select the fill that I want to edit. What I am doing is selecting Options/Fill Types/New. I get a dialog asking for the new fill type's name. I click OK and at this point I have the option to Copy and Paste but the fill is a Symbol 001 fill. If I switch to the fill that I want to edit (Patio Stone) the options to Copy and Paste disappear.
What is the procedure to edit a fill?

From ArchiCAD Help: If you wish to change a symbol fill after the original components have been deleted from the Floor Plan, you must first choose the symbol to be edited within the Fill Types dialog box, and press the Copy button. By pasting the symbol fill back onto the Floor Plan, it becomes editable once more. See the above for details on how to define this newly revised group of elements into a symbol fill.

Thank you,
John

PS ArchiCAD Help refers to a fill called Rubble (it looks like a rubble rock wall fill). This fill does not seem to be one of the fills that are in my copy of ArchiCAD. Where can I get the Rubble fill?

My understanding is incomplete, but there are two types of fills. I believe most of the ones that ship with Archicad are "hard coded" and don't allow the copy paste option (I believe you can create these fills using GDL). The other type of fill is a symbol fill that allows you to paste in elements you have drawn on the floor plan and create a new fill. When you create a new symbol fill you can give it whatever name you want and this becomes part of the project. The only easy type of editing you can do to the "hard coded" fills is change the relative scale that it draws at. In my opinion the fills in general need some re-thinking on Graphisofts end.

1. Scalable at time of placement
2. Better viewing and organizational options
3. Easier means to create and edit "hard coded" fills

Mike,
I think that you are correct about the non-editable fills. There are other fills that I am able to edit but the Patio Stone does not seem to be editable. The good news is that the fieldstone fill is just what I was looking for and it is editable.
