Can you explain your problem a little more? You shouldn't have any problems drawing complex shapes with the slab tool.

If you draw your slab out with lines to the way you need it with curves and such, you can select the slab tool and space+click the outside line to draw the slab out

or simply use the pet-palette options for different geometric construction methods. start drawing your slab and choose the pet-palette icon that suits best how you want to draw the next segment of the polygonal shape. see the attached screenshot . . .
