ASSIGINING LINE TYPES TO LAYERS

IS THERE A WAY I CAN ASSIGN A LINE TYPE TO A LAYER. FOR EXAMPLE MY A-FLOOR-OVHD LAYER CAN ALWAYS HAVE A DASHED LINE WHEN I SELECT THE LAYER TO DRAW WITH? THANKS

In AC it is easy to select (before drawing the line) or change the line type so it is not necessary.
