Archicad Crash - When editing/deleting zones

I have a file that crashes every time I edit or delete 5 or 6 zones. Not all zones, but just a handful of the zones in the project.
I have already:
verified the zone is not missing
tried changing the zone attribute library part
tried moving the zones to a design option and accepting and merging a counter-design option to delete
tried saving as a .mod, checking the "replace current selection with module" option
tried moving the home story
verified the volume is not negative or otherwise showing an invalid geometry
tried moving the layer the zones live on and deleting that layer to purge
verified all attributes of the zone are correct
tried changing the zone from manual to associated geometry
tried changing the zones back to manual
tried saving a .pla and deleting the zones from there
tried selecting in plan, section, 3d views to delete
...
there may be a dozen other things I've tried; but I'm stumped. What about a zone would trigger a crash? It is any edit to the plan geometry (IE boundary) or deleting.
I can change the layer, the design option, the renovation status, relink home story without any ill effect. But renaming, editiing the zone boundary, or deleting these zones triggers a crash. Other zones within the project are fine, no effect at all.

Have you tried the 'Open & Repair' option when opening the file?

This may may pick up if something is wrong with the zone and fix it (or delete it) for you.

Are these zones connected with other elements some how like walls?

What happens if you delete everything else except those zones......? I usually go the other way around....

Merge model to new file and check.

I feel it is not the zones but something else....

I recall a similar problem in AC25 where the deletion of Zone Attributes caused the crash, not the deleting of the actual zones. Does this happen to you in this file?

Was there ever a resolution here? I am encountering the same or similar issue. In this case it's related to editing zones in a specific location in the model. If I move the zone and edit it elsewhere in space then move back it's fine but if I attempt to change the boundary within that region I can a model hang/collapse.

The usual culprits for corruption have all been removed from that part of the model but I still can't seem to track down.

I know it's specific to a story and region.
