Archicad gets in the way of designing

I am trying to use 3D zones to block some extensions to a project. It is frustrating because AC really gets in the way. The zone was created on a floor plan and shows in 3D. When I get back to plan, it is gone - and reselecting the layer on which it was located doesn't help! If a 3D zone shows on 3D, why doesn't it show on plan????

One possibility: check Model View Options > Override Fill Display > Override Zone Fills: No Fill.

Mere speculation:

Did you change its storey?

Solution: design on a board with pencil and ruler first 😉 I find all CAD programs get in the way of design - at least in the initial rough layout stages. You can work/sketch roughly and quickly without having to worry about the technical aspects of the CAD software.

Of course, it is a delusion that any assemblage of little box/blocks in which people merely "keep their stuff" is design.

If you're using the Australian Template then check that you are using the '01 Drafting' model view option. This will make zones appear in plan views.

You can find this in the screenshot attached

Zones in 3d are controlled from another area found under view>element in 3d view>filter elements in 3d view. Then make sure zones are ticked.
