Layers being added with a #2 and #3 after name

Hi.
So, we have a teamwork file and somewhere along the lines layers keep making there way into our list of layers but with a #2 or #3 added to the end, or as an extension.
Do you guys know what that is about?
We're not putting them there and i don't understand why it would be added to the end of the layer name and sometimes added as the extension.

I have seen weird similar behaviour like this when using the Attribute manager. We took the Teamshare back to being a Solo file purged all the crud and re-shared it.

I haven't seen this behaviour in while now I think it was a couple of updates back when this happend. Are you on latest version of AC12?
