Manual Editing Attributes XML works different if exported with Manager or Palette

GabrielGG

Hello,

I Edit the Attributes XML-Files manually very often ... for different Reasons.

Until now I always used the XML export from the Attribute-Manager and hat no problems.

Today I did it for the first time with the XML export of the Attribute-Palette and even chaging ine single field I can't reimport.

I tryed again doing the same with the Attribute-Manager to check if I was doing something wrong and it worked fine.

Does somebody has a clue what are the differences and why  I get the Error with the Palette?

I realized that with the export of the Palette the Folders are exported too. and I edited to match a nex index, but it did not help and I got the same error.

Thanks

Gabriel

I export Fill No. 1 "Common Brick" from both the Attribute Manager and the Attribute Palette, and they are almost identical. The three differences I saw:

1. At the end, there was more detailed Folder info (3 additional row) when I exported from the Attributes Palette; there was less Folder info when exported from the Attribute Manager.

2. The <ModiTime> row for the Fill definition was sometimes 23970, sometimes 23972. I suppose it's a modification time, but I'm unsure what the exact number means.

3. The <guid> row was different at each export, which is strange because it is the same fill. I suppose a random guid is assigned to exported attributes, hence the change.

I tried to make modifications in the XML, I checked the Name rows, then I could import it without any issues with Ac29.

Thanks @Laszlo Nagy ,

I did further tests and I found I had change one Index in the Attribute itself and in the Folder references I forgot to change the Index to match the new Index of the attribute itself. Because of this "tiny" difference Archicad rejects to import the Attribute XML.

When editing the attributes, Archicad completes and Correct many errors itself ... ITs not the case if you have differences between the Attributes Indexes and the Indexes used to move Attributes into Folders.

What I take with me ... If you are goint to edit attributes directly in the XML and Folders are not so important at the moment, just edit the XML export from the Attribute Manager. The new attributes will show outside of the folders in the Attribute Palette ... and you can move them into the folders manually.
