figures: how to maintaintain transparent background?

Hello all.

We cannot understand how to maintain a transparent background figure (bitmap) placed in AC that stays consistently transparent downstream of AC.

For example: a tiff placed in AC (with the TRANSPARENCY checkbox on) looks great in AC, and when saved as PMK also prints with transparent background as expected.

(Actually, since I thought a tiff-format was incapable of a transparent background this is not at all expected but that's another story!)

However (getting back to the original question) this same layout when saved as a PDF shows the TIFF portion of the layout with a solid background. Saving as EPS yields same results.

(Interestingly the PDF is saved with some sort of layers, since I can see the under-layers for a split second as Acrobat builds the PDF on-screen...)

Tried placing the same bitmap as a GIF (GIF89a) but that didn't work at all... the entire image came into AC blank.

So what gives? Sometimes our TIFFs are transparent in plotmaker, sometimes not. They never seem to make it all the way to a PDF intact. Anyone know the rules here?

Bumpity bump...

Nothing to offer from the denizens of the this world-wide gathering of AC experts?

Should I assume only we have this problem?

I have the same problem from Archicad 7.0
the bitmap looks ok on archicad but when i want to print it
the bitmap is messed up
it's not transparent, or if it's transparent the colors it's wrong

i've tried to change even the keys from regedit
in archicad and plotmaker and no positive results

i'm very pissed off with this problem

I NEED A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM

why is so hard

ACAD do this and very simple!!!!!!!!
Corel did it
