I see that Graphisoft EcoDesigner for ArchiCAD12 has just been announced!

Sounds excellent!

Will be very interested to see further details when released.

Nice!
Thanks Laszlo and Graphy.

Since joinery tool got mentioned here.
By the way, at the AIA in SF I got a chance to talk to one of the Graphy folks from Hungary and asked the question of when the modular joinery tool might be available.
His response was that what was holding it up was instructional videos to go along with it.
Ralph, can you confirm or comment on this?

(Sorry, off topic!) Lec, There was an accompanying 8 minute video when I got the Modular joinery object from my resellers website. I don't know if was something that they had put together or if it was Ralph.

Maybe Graphisoft is putting together some new videos in multiple languages that are more in line with the presentational style of their previous official ones?

There must be some misunderstanding, because Graphisoft UK released a video in parallel with the object. The guys in Hungary know that, but perhaps there hasn't been much internal communication on the subject. I don't want to side-track this important topic though - perhaps any other queries could start on a new thread?

Don't know if I got your question right,but;
But no, I don't believe ED is designed for interface with that kind of analysis.

BTW
Thanks for the link.

It's been a twenty five year discussion around our area because we use enough; SR,studs,vb,ply & siding, to sink a battle ship, but guess I've been in a cave, since I've not seen this white paper before.
Very interesting, even if you don't get into the math behind it.
Yet we are in a warm climate so we put the vb over the sheer ply,(under the siding). Not too much use of vb under sheet rock here.
But that might make sense if using a "one way"(out) Vb like Tyvek.
It would be nice for some knowledgeable person to comment on that in a NEW thread without side tracking this important thread about ED?

I think you'd agree that it would be an interesting experiment to put the same data into all the different software available at the moment to see what the variation is between all of them. I'll bet you none of them are the same!
Not only is it interesting, it will become necessary. How can conformance to the program be validated if there is no independent verification, validation, and accreditation of the models used and analyses employed?

The necessity to do just this sort of "experiment" was one driving force in DoD's interest in interoperability. Before their ground-breaking work in interoperability standards for modeling, product vendors produced both the models and the analysis based on those models to show that their product was "the best." Competing analyses were then very difficult or impossible to verify since there seemed no independent guarantee (or even liklihood) that the analyses were based on the same model. "VV&A" and the HLA specifications came to essentially require some sort of interoperable model be used by competing analyses. IFC anyone?

Looks very good - just what we need provided it is accredited.

Following the VIP energy links has a puzzling item on "Margin of error calculations". Seems very poor but I must be misreading something otherwise experienced users wouldn't be so excited.
Kees its got nothing to do with being accredited ... and by what?
Its a good basic energy/carbon footprint engine which is very fast and can be used right at the start of a project during the initial design phase and on through the project design process. Its not designed to get council approval (even if we had one approval process nationally) its there to help the architect design and energy efficient building...
