Editing dwg-translators in TW?

Mats_Knutsson

Hi,
As default my translators are stored locally on my machine. If I alter a translator my teammates can't access them.

What is the best strategy to ensure everyone in a TW project is using and has access to the correct translator (that is updated continously)?...i.e. when publishing dwg from any TW-user the same one and only translator must be used.

why do you need to update the translator frequently? We have a translator that I've set up and it's kept on our file server which is accessible by everyone. Even if you do need to edit it all the time, you can edit it on the server and it's still accessible to everyone..

What we usually did in our office in such cases was to make sure these files were referenced by their full network path, not their local path on your machine. So the path of the file is not e.g.

C:\User\Joe\Settings\...

but

\\Joe shared folder\Settings\...

you get the idea.

Of course this would mean you would have to share those folder where those files are located.
This will solve the problem of referencing such files for at least everyone in your LAN.
